First of all, huge thanks to everyone who signed the recount papers! Extra special shoutout to Katherine, who took the bus and walked a half mile WITH A BROKEN ANKLE to sign.
The race remains too close to call. Here are the latest numbers from WBUR:
Daniel is now leading by 4 votes (hey, that’s a 33% increase in his lead over yesterday 😂).
Next week the campaign will need a lot of help to make sure every single ballot is counted and every vote recorded. They’re looking for a big turnout of volunteers to help staff the count and make sure every ballot is reviewed accurately. The campaign will provide training, so don’t worry if you’ve never done this before!
They need volunteers from Belmont, Watertown, and Cambridge as well in case you want to share this info with any friends in other parts of the district!
The campaign is still confirming the timing, but it will likely be during the day next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday.

ICYMI, Jon shared a great breakdown of the various races from yesterday . There’s some info in there that connects the results to a lot of the boring stuff that happens off-cycle, like redistricting. Super helpful if you’d like to learn more about some of the races our sister chapters here in Boston and around the state have worked on, including Progressive West Roxbury and Roslindale’s hard work on the Persis Yu campaign! One of the few progressive challengers that broke through.
september 8 meeting - ballot questions!
Join us back at our semi-usual haunt the PSF in Oak Square for our September meeting (we’re trying to get back to a more regular schedule on 2nd Tuesdays, mark your calendars!).
This time, September 8th at 6:30PM, join us for some socializing with neighbors, primary recaps, and of course preparation for November’s ballot questions. The intrepid Jon Cohn of Progressive Mass will be joining us to share his expertise on the topic, so we can decide how we want to prioritize our efforts.
